Dubai is popular for its enormous desert area and the magnificent Arabian Gulf. The temperature is also at its peak during the hotter months. There are amazing water parks and water sports that help you cool down. Three of the world’s top ten water parks are right here in the UAE.
1. Aquaventure, Atlantis The Palm
This is the largest water parks in Dubai, which boasts impressive water rides and adventures fit for all ages. It is famous for Ziggurat at its centre – the 30 metres high structure with seven adrenaline pumping slides to choose from. The most popular attraction of this waterpark is Leap of Faith, which uses a 27.5 meter near-vertical drop that sends you through a see-through tunnel located in a shark-filled lagoon. The charges are AED 200 for adults, AED 165 for guests below 1.2 metres and if it’s your birthday you get a free entry.
2. Wild Wadi, Jumeirah
One of the best waterpark in Dubai which is located in one of the most popular destinations of the city, Burj Al Arab. The Wild Wadi is Dubai’s first water park and is still one that is cherished by many. The Tunnel of Doom, a pitch black slide with plenty of sudden twists and turns, is more than enough to get your heart racing. Wild Wadi is home to Breakers Bay, the largest wave pool in the Middle East, producing 1.5 m (4.9 ft) waves in five different configurations. Children will adore the splashy fun of the Dhow and Lagoon; and when you want a break, relax at the wide range of restaurants, shops and cafes. 3. Laguna Water Park, La Mer
One of the newer Dubai waterparks known as the Laguna Water Park is located at the beachfront destination of La Mer. Yet one more addition to Dubai’s endless cluster of adventure water parks is the Laguna Water Park. It beats the rest with its star allure – the WaveOz 180. This Ultimate Surf Machine is one of the only three 180 degrees surf simulator in the world and grants you to catch waves on the 187-feet wall-to-wall wave stimulator. It adds more thrill and excitement because the Surf Machine is a sea facing ride. The Laguna Water Park has a great collection of water slides, lazy rivers, a kid’s splash zone and a pool to keep you engrossed in water all day long!
4. Yas Waterworld, Abu Dhabi
Yas Waterworld on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi set a new criterion in aqua park design. It is the first hybrid park of its kind and is rated as one of the ace waterparks in the UAE. The water park covers 11 hectares, has 43 rides and attractions set among caves, mountains, rivers and beaches, including four ideal ‘world’s first’ rides and activities and the space to host 7,000 visitors. There are amazing rides like Bandit Bomber coaster, super-steep Jebel Drop slide, and the fast-and-furious Dawwama tornado and more.
5. Dreamland Aqua Park, Umm Al Quwain
One of the oldest and largest water parks in the UAE, the waterslides are a lot of fun. It features over 30 thrilling rides and attractions suiting all age groups, the Dreamland Aqua Park is the best place to enjoy thrilling water sports in the UAE as well as have family-friendly fun. The Twisting Dragons slide leaves riders reeling as they plunge down at 65 miles per hour. Start to finish, the ride takes only eight seconds. With a wide choice of restaurants and food outlets, cabana rentals and overnight camping facilities you are guaranteed a wholesome experience at this waterpark in Umm Al Quwain. Tickets are AED 160 for adults, AED 100 for kids, AED 450 is family Package for 2 adults + 2 children below 1.2m tall and free for infants under 2 years of age.
6. Legoland Water Park, Dubai Parks and Resort
The only Dubai water park in the area that is categorically created for children aged 2-12 and their families, Legoland Waterpark is part of the larger Dubai Parks and Resorts project. One of its most trendy attractions is the Build-A-Raft River where families can craft their own raft using Lego soft bricks, before floating together down a lazy river. For kids, there are loads of rides and slides to choose from, classic splash Joker Soaker, wave pool and build a boat play area. Dh205 for children and seniors and Dh240 for adults.
7. Ice Land Water Park, Ras Al Khaimah
When you are hitting the peaks of summer rates, Ice land Water Park offers the best value for a family day out. Expect giant slides, a giant waterfall, wave pool, Snow River, ice bucket and kid’s cove. The park has more than 30 thrilling rides such as the Penguin Falls, Mount Cyclone, Mount Attack and Coral Isle. Tickets are AED 75 per person, AED 100 Family Package (2 Adult + 1 Child below 1.20 meters height), Free for children below 80cm height and Senior Citizen above 65 years old.
